About Us
DuPage County Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) is a five year program which helps families to develop career plans, reach family goals, and obtain services with the goal of achieving economic self-sufficiency.

FSS offers comprehensive case management and supportive services to assist families in reaching their self-sufficiency goals.

Our Mission
The overriding theme of Family Self-Sufficiency is to empower people to take control of their lives by becoming independent, productive members of their communities.

FSS does not simply attack the symptoms of poverty; it tackles dependency on all fronts and replaces powerlessness with empowerment and opportunity for a better future.

What do participants say about Family Self-Sufficiency?

"Giving personal information and letting someone know your personal affairs can be difficult but not with my case manager. Her professionalism & personality has made this process easier."

"When I first came into the program, I was very depressed and unhappy. That was over two years ago. Since that time, I have maintained employment and started school. I am so happy for the support and encouragement."

"My case manager has helped provide direction and referrals that keep me on target."

"When joining FSS, I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Through my case manager's help, I have made baby steps toward a new life. I reflect back and see just how far I have come. I now work full time and have received a promotion in a short time. I am much stronger and am beginning to "live" life. If I have come this far by now, I look forward to where FSS guides me next."

"My case manager has been able to point out areas for me that have helped me reassess myself and move forward more efficiently."

"I am not good at goal setting, but with my case manager's questions and guidance I have gotten better at it."
