Portability

Port INTO Kendall County
In order to port into Kendall Housing Authority, the client will first need to notify their current Housing Authority. We encourage clients to direct their current Housing Authority to view this web page to answer all their questions regarding Kendall Housing Authority and Portability.

Kendall Housing Authority is currently BILLING for all portability clients.

Please use the contact information below when ready to port.

Portability Coordinator, April Wisch
711 E Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, IL 60187
P: 630-593-8210 Fax: 630-690-0702
email: awisch@dupagehousing.org

Once the client has made the decision to port their voucher, and their current Housing Authority has confirmed the client’s paperwork has been sent to our office, the client should contact our Portability Coordinator to confirm receipt of their paperwork. It is the client’s responsibility to make sure we have received their paperwork. KHA will not call to inform the client when their paperwork is received. The client will then be contacted to schedule an appointment for a briefing, where they will receive KHA moving papers. The average time to schedule a briefing is 10-14 business days. Briefing meetings are group sessions, that will take place by appointment only, and are held at the DuPage Housing Authority. Once the completed moving papers are submitted, it is another 7-10 business days to schedule an inspection. Either the potential landlord or the client can submit the packet to our office. The packet can simply be emailed to RFTA@dupagehousing.org

Please note that, per Kendall Housing Authority’s Administrative Plan, determination of voucher bedroom size is based on the following; 2 people per bedroom (regardless of sex or age).

Port OUT of Kendall County
To port out of Kendall Housing Authority, the client will first need to notify their current KHA Certification Specialist. They will know the necessary steps to port the client’s voucher.

Once the client has made the decision to port their voucher, and their KHA Certification Specialist has approved their port and given the paperwork to the KHA Portability Coordinator, the client’s paperwork will be sent to the new Housing Authority within 10 business days.

The Portability Coordinator will contact the client once their paperwork has been sent out. The client should then contact the new Housing Authority and ask to speak with the Portability Specialist to set up a briefing and receive moving papers.

For more information, the client should contact their current KHA Certification Specialist.
